We are very excited to have been asked to be an Asmodee Board Game Club Blogger because we love to play board games and always enjoy trying out new ones and here we’re bringing you the first of our reviews which is the eggzellent Crazy Eggs!
This game comes in an actual egg box which makes it easy to store and contains:
- Egg stand
- 1 Blue egg
- 9 Orange eggs
- 1 Action Die – red
- 1 Body Die – white
We loved how really simple this is to set up because there really is so little involved. No batteries, no putting things together, just open the egg box, remove the dice and put the egg stand in the middle of the table. How easy?
The aim of the game is to be the first player to get 5 eggs – not as easy as it sounds! To start with each player rolls the white body die which determines where the first orange egg will be held:
- Under the armpit
- The inside of the elbow
- Between neck and shoulder
- Under the chin
- Between the knees
- Or any of these locations if you get the die side with the party hat
The rest of the eggs are left in the box for now. The youngest player gets to go first and chooses an egg to go on the egg stand – the blue egg is an awful lot more solid and heavier then the orange ones which are hollow.
This is where it all gets a bit fast and giggly! Then they roll the action die, if the die rolls red the first person to do the action depicted on it correctly takes the egg on the stand, rolls the body die and puts the egg in the location they’ve rolled. If the die rolls blue the last person to do the action returns one egg back to the egg box. The player to get 5 five eggs first and perform a ceremonial celebration by spinning around (while still holding their 5 eggs) and shouting cock a doodle doo is the winner!
Here the Picking Up Toys can be seen showing you one of the actions – the disco pose!
My younger kids are 7 and 10 and this is spot on for them, easy to understand the rules and not too difficult to play. It’s even more fun if you can get grown ups to play too though! It was perfect for us to play on recent days where the rain has been endless. It could also be taken on day trips/holidays etc as its not big and bulky and you don’t have to worry about losing small parts.
